What we do
-
Sourcing
Where coffee grows has a significant difference in its tasting notes, scent, how you roast it, how you brew it, and all its other qualities. Our roasters and buyers make sure all our coffees are sourced ethically, and sustainably.
-
Cupping
Critical part of our job to select the best possible coffee in the season.
-
Roasting
West End Coffee roasts small hand crafted batches of 100% top grade arabica beans to ensure an uncompromising coffee in every cup.
FAQ
Where do you roast your coffee?
We roast our coffees in beautiful Vancouver BC, Canada, always roasting to order.
Where are you currently sourcing your coffee?
Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Colombia, Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, Yemen.
What's the best way to store coffee beans? How long do they keep?
Coffee beans are best stored at room temperature in a dry, dark and airtight container. Keeping the beans in the bag they came in, and weighing out the beans you need as you go is also great (just make sure you roll the bag tight after each use).
We recommend that you use freshly roasted coffee beans within 4–6 weeks after the roast date. If you can, buy in smaller quantities so your beans are always fresh and this way you can also try different coffees depending on what’s in season.
Do you sell decaf coffee?
Yes we do! See here.
Do you offer dark, medium, and light roasts?
Yes we do! We develop coffees to be as sweet and clean as they can be, and we offer profiles that fit everyone's tastes.
What are flavor profiles and flavor notes? Do you add flavorings to your coffees?
We do not add any flavorings to our coffee or espresso. We use flavor profiles to describe the general category and similarities between coffees. Flavor notes are specific descriptors for each particular coffee that are accentuated out by our coffee team through the roast process.
What’s the difference between a blend and a single-origin coffee?
Single-origin coffees are sourced from a specific place, whether estates, family-owned farms, or communities served by farmer organizations. Blends showcase coffees from different places that we combine with great care and intention so they can work in concert to highlight a distinct flavor.
